This session will present ideas for teaching the YouTube song “Not Heidi’s Girl,” sung by teenage girls from Hamburg. It protests against the beauty standards promoted by Heidi Klum’s popular German television series, Germany’s Next Top Model. The session will provide handouts for teaching the song within the context of #MeToo. Activities will include IPA readings, presentations, and videos for student reflection on their own beauty ideals. For language levels from Novice High to Intermediate.
